Maia del Estal

MAIA IS NOT AFRAID TO TALK WITH HER INNER SHADOW
Akeem k. Duncan: Tell us about the title 'moody af'. it feels very contemporary yet personal.

Maia del Estal: I wanted to work with this concept of "moodiness" by
experiencing the highs and lows of these 'moods swings' in different medias. it was more like a need to balance 'the emotional rollercoaster' by embracing it and having fun.

mde: mmh, my mental 'black holes' or 'spirals', like the darker voice of one's thoughts. freedom and the feeling of a flower blooming. self-reflection, and the tension between darkness and color, sadness and joy, introspection and openness.

akd: have you grown in the process? how?

mde: we're always growing as we go. I feel I know myself better in each of my works. the more we explore about something, the deeper and closer we get to ourselves.
akd: how has it been working with pop gun art gallery?

mde: It was great! Gunner’s fun and awesome to work with. thank you
